Regenerative Channel Blowers

Regenerative Blowers deliver up to 1,300 SCFM of uncontaminated flow at up to 8 PSIG pressure, and from 30” to 0” Hg vacuum. Typical applications include air conveying, refuse burning, instrument air, air dryer, air cushioning, tank agitation, sewage aeration, blister packing, liquid spraying, fuel atomizing, air knives, product curing, radon gas elimination, automatic bottling, vacuum holding, soil remediation, paper transport, scrap collection, powder recovery, gas sampling, thread holding, and all applications requiring medium pressure, or vacuum.

Side Channel Blowers

Side Channel Blowers are available with cast aluminum casing enclosing cast aluminum rotors. NPT threaded flange connection 1”, 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3” and 4”, as well as metric threaded flange of type G are standard. Shaft sealing is provided by C-flange motor mount, or by sealed bearings.

Channel Blower Packages

Channel Blower Packages are supplied on unitary base of standard or isolation type with RIS, or spring vibration isolators. Power transmission is implemented by V-Belt Drives complete with V-belts, adjustable or constant speed sheaves and pulleys, bushings, and motor slide bases; or by direct drive coupling. Motors are of High Efficiency design. OSHA Belt Guard and OSHA Coupling Guard are standard.

Expansion Joints, Flexible Connectors and Compression Couplings isolate Regenerative Blower to allow for thermal expansion and mis-alignment of piping.

Pressure / Vacuum Relief Safety Valves of VLR type are of spring loaded type kunkle valve. They set-up point of operation and bleed-off to prevent over-pressurization, or relief vacuum.

Inline Check Valves direct airflow or vacuum in one direction only. Flow Converters change direction of the flow by electronically, or pneumatically activated diverter.

Pressure / Vacuum Controls include differential pressure gauge up to 15 PSIG, vacuum gauge from 30” to 0” Hg, temperature gauge, gauge snubber to reduce pressure pulsation, and .25” pet-cock valve to isolate the gauge.

Regenerative Silencers are offered as inlet and discharge silencers with sound absorbing polyurethane elements. Additional auxiliary inlet and outlet silencers offer additional means of sound attenuation. Sound Enclosures are custom made based on application requirements.

Inlet Filters are offered with wire-mesh oil wetted (multi-wash), high efficiency ultra-synthetic (polyester, washable), or paper (thrown away) media. Controls included Differential Filter Pressure Gauge used as Filter Restriction Indicator. Filter casing is available as open flange design, hooded design, or combined filter-silencer assembly. In-line filters are custom.

Controls and drives options for side channel blowers include: variable frequency drives (VFD), motor starters, are available in NEMA 1, NEMA 3R, NEMA 4 enclosure, as well as for x-proof applications.

Attic Fans

While most households are conscious on the convenience brought by nicely ventilated homes, many tend to overlook the attic as one of the areas to be considered. No one finds it comfortable staying for long hours in the closed attic because of the overwhelming heat that builds up in it. For this reason, it is necessary for everyone to consider installing attic ventilation fans in order to cool down the attic’s heat. This can have amazing advantages to the overall household convenience while minimizing energy costs.

Attic fans are, without a doubt, effective tools in bringing ample air exposure to the attic. Without these, all the heat from the sunlight is absorbed into the house even without bringing noticeable change to the temperature. The same thing happens even when the days are not too sunny. All the heat absorbed from its daily encounter with direct sunlight is trapped inside the attic. Not only that, since warm air naturally rises, all the heat in the house goes up to the attic. This can result to a throttling discomfort for anyone who goes in the attic to either look for something in the storage or to bring over new belongings for keeping.

Improper attic ventilation

Improper attic ventilation also has negative effects to things stored there. Too much heat can be bad for the things kept in the storage. It will gradually diminish their quality and can even damage those fragile and sensitive possessions. Moreover, the overly high temperature in the attic can result in the breaking of the house’s roof. Although these do not happen overnight, the effects will be noticeable in due time. The costs of replacements and repairs will only add to the family’s expenses. This is one of the reasons why mounting attic ventilation fans are necessary.

These attic fans also help minimize the development of excess moisture in the room. Lesser room moisture means it becomes impossible for molds and yeast to grow in the sheaths and frames under the roof especially on summer months. This is applies to both warm and cool seasons. For colder times, the cooling effects of attic ventilation fans are very helpful in preventing ice blocks from expanding on the rooftop. This protects the roof from being damaged by the ice.

There are many types of attic fans being sold in the market nowadays. However, using the solar types is highly recommended because of their economical value. These solar fans not only save on the electric bills but also reduce the amount of energy emitted by electronic appliances which are harmful to the environment. They are also as competent as the plug-in types of fans. While this choice of attic ventilation fans are more expensive compared to non-solar ones during the initial purchase, one cannot deny its long-term cost-efficiency.

People tend to neglect the importance of having a well-ventilated attic. Although it is just an extra space mostly utilized for storage, it significantly has effects on the amount of heat stored in the residence that has some lasting drawbacks to the house and the things kept in the attic. Therefore, it is important to take time to evaluate the attic’s ventilation needs and install efficient attic fans.

High Pressure Blowers & Fans

NIS-CO Fan Pressure Air Fans are at work in as many diverse applications as they are in locations throughout the world. Clean air applications include combustion air, air drying primary air ejectors, and product cooling. This fan can handle pneumatic conveying systems. The HPB fan is ideal for corrosive exhaust, air pollution systems and chemical processing. By adding ceramic tile or chromium carbide wheel and housing liners, Buffalo’s PA fans easily handle abrasive materials. In particular, fans with ceramic tile liners are extremely effective in pulverized coal applications, handling up to 250 grains per cubic feet of air. For corrosive gases, a stainless steel wheel and housing is available, or a lower cost rubber-lined, mild steel housing will often fulfill the requirements.

Multistage Blowers

Multistage Blowers deliver up to 150,000 SCFM of uncontaminated gas flow at up to 30 PSIG pressure, and from 20” to 0” Hg vacuum. Typical applications include air conveying, industrial & municipal water waste, water aeration, petroleum and chemical refineries, flotation, central vacuum systems, cell aeration, sulfur recovery, fluidized bed units, gas boosters for carbon dioxide, nitrogen, propane, natural gas, steam compressors for vapor recompression systems, electroplating, agitation of tanks, cement pneumatic conveying, landfill gas recovery, leaching process, soil remediation, paper transport, scrap collection, powder recovery, and all applications requiring medium pressure, or vacuum at relatively large volume of flow.

Industrial Centrifugal Pressure Blowers

Centrifugal Pressure Blowers are available with cast iron, or fabricated steel casing enclosing cast aluminum, fabricated aluminum, or stainless steel rotors. ANSI 125/150 flange connections, as well as metric standard flange connections are standard. Shaft sealing is provided by labyrinth seal, mechanical seal, purgeable nitrogen, or other gas seal, gas tight seal, or by sealed bearing compartments.

Industrial Blowers – FRP

Industrial FRP Blowers are designed for highly corrosive application to handle acid vapors, and organic and inorganic chemical fumes that are highly corrosive to metal at temperatures up to 250 F. Applications include scrubber systems, odor control systems in wastewater treatment plants, laboratory exhaust systems, metal finishing and chemical-process industries. Fiber-reinforced-plastic pressure blowers are made from chemical grade polyester or vinyl ester resins and reinforced with glass or fiber. Additional surface veil is available depending on the application. Capacity range of FRP Pressure Blowers is from 0 to 8,000 CFM and static pressure range is up to 40” WG.

Industrial Pressure Blowers

Housings of FRP Pressure Blowers are rotatable and fabricated of polyester resin based FRP , while wheels are made of vinyl ester resin FRP to allow for more strength. 316 stainless steel, or Hastelloy C276 alloy wheel and shaft assemblies are available. FRP ORB self-cleaning wheel design and FRP Pressure Blower wheel design are used depending on application. Standard shafts are made of C-1040/1045 steel covered with FRP sleeve. 316 stainless steel shafts are optional. Inlet/outlet flange drilling is according to ANSI 125/150 bolt pattern, or Voluntary Product Standard PS15-69. Neoprene gasketing with Teflon Shaft Seal, or Viton seal element in FRP casing is provided where low leakage is desired.

FRP Pressure Blower Accessories

FRP Pressure Blower Accessories include outlet flanged wafer-type damper, made of FRP; inlet vane damper in FRP construction; companion flange with collar in FRP construction; unitary base available with spring or rubber-in-shear RIS isolators ; drain and plug threaded FRP drain with PVC plug; inspection port ; surface veil provided in compliance with ASTM D 4167; all-vinyl ester airstream ; graphite impregnation to control static electricity; adjustable motor bases ; OSHA Guards and Motor weather cover; drive components ; VFD duty high efficiency motors ; and others.

Teflon Impregnated Flexible Connectors to isolate FRP pressure blower and to allow for mis-alignment of piping.

Industrial ventilation is of paramount importance to ensure the safety and well-being of employees. In industries where employees are subjected to dangerous chemicals, vapours and gasses on a daily basis, effective industrial ventilation can mean the difference between life and death. The basic concepts behind industrial ventilation are quite simple, but for it to be effective, the ventilation system needs to be installed by an experienced engineer.

Industrial Ventilation Uses

Industrial ventilation is a method of controlling employee exposure toxic chemicals, volatile airborne substances and flammable vapours by removing the contaminated air and replacing it with clean, fresh air. Used in a variety of different industries where poisonous vapours may be a problem, industrial ventilation is most often employed to remove welding and solvent vapours, oil mists and poisonous or volatile dust.

But industrial ventilation may not always be necessary. True, it should be preferable for the continued health of your employees, but regulations suggest that industrial ventilation only becomes compulsory when:

•the levels of contaminants exceed regulated levels;
•the lower explosive limit of flammable vapours is exceeded; or
•when the oxygen concentration in an area drops below 19.5%.

Industrial ventilation should also be considered before respirators. Not only is the system easier to maintain, but, in the long run, is a much more cost effective method of air purity control.

There are a number of industrial ventilation options available depending on the circumstances of your industry’s circumstances. The most basic is indoor quality ventilation that aims to provide fresh air throughout a building as part of the existing ventilation system. This option is primarily used in offices but can be effective in small industries where the concentration of contaminants is low.

Industrial Ventilation System

Easy to maintain and inexpensive to set up is dilution ventilation. This form of industrial ventilation uses large and powerful exhaust fans to extract contaminated air and to draw in clean air. It is very effective in clearing flammable vapours but is less effective for metal fumes or large concentrations of highly toxic materials. Depending on where the industry is located, the incoming air may require a lot of cooling or heating before it can be introduced into the industrial ventilation system, increasing the cost of using the system.

Dilution ventilation uses the simple principles of displacement and dilution to function. Some of the contaminated air is removed and replaced with large amounts of fresh air. The concentration of the contamination is effectively lowered, making it safer for people to work in the area.

Exhaust Ventilation

A more localised industrial ventilation system is local exhaust ventilation. This system captures the contaminations at the source and expels it before it has a chance to disperse into the air. For highly toxic contaminants or high concentrations, this industrial ventilation is probably one of the best. It does not require large amounts of fresh incoming air since the exhaust of contaminants is localised. This effective ventilation comes at a higher cost and more frequent maintenance, however.

Local exhaust ventilation works like a vacuum cleaner forcing contaminated air to move from a high concentration to a low concentration. It is perhaps one of the most effective industrial ventilation systems because it removes the contaminants at the source before it has a chance to spread.

There are effective industrial ventilation systems available for any industry. Some are simple to use, like dilution ventilation, while others are specifically made for highly toxic environments, like local exhaust ventilation. Whatever the decision, as long as the industrial ventilation keeps your employees safe from the contaminations of the substances they work with, it is doing its job.

Industrial Blowers, Fans and Ventilation

In almost any building or room used for commercial and industrial operations, it is quite likely that there are recurrent conditions that cause personnel discomfort. This is particularly true unless an expensive system for the circulation of refrigerated air (air conditioning) has been provided. In mild to hot weather, the discomfort of individuals is generally due to the build-up of intense heat within the structure. This becomes a severe problem in summer because the sun load on the building is added to the normal sources of heat build-up within the building. Most buildings have sufficient ventilation to remove smoke and fumes detrimental to health. However, it is unlikely that that system contributes very much toward the comfort of the individuals who occupy the mom or building.

Industrial Blowers and Fans for Ventilation

Humans are warm blooded animals whose normal body temperature is 98.6° Fahrenheit. However, we are most comfortable when the air temperature around us is in the 72°-to-78° range. If there is air motion around us, the effect of “wind chill”, or evaporative cooling, enables us to feel comfortable in a much higher air temperature. As the natural air temperature in most non-air conditioned buildings is much warmer than outside air temperatures, the problem of keeping humans comfortable is primarily a cooling problem. Of course, this is not the case in periods of very cold weather. Our purpose is to discuss the environmental problems that frequently exist in periods of moderate to hot weather. An effective, economical solution of these problems is vital to the success of any business.

Proper Industrial Fan Ventilation

If an individual is to produce maximum results, he must be allowed to function in an environment as nearly ideal as can be provided. In fact, the benefits in terms of efficiency and productivity can be substantial. Failure to provide a comfortable environment can be very expensive in terms of errors, work slow-down, complaints, absenteeism, etc. If the major factor is a hot, humid atmosphere, which may include smoke, dust, fumes or other irritants, a practical and effective approach to the problem is available. To obtain a reasonable degree of personnel comfort in hot weather, there are three basic factors that should be provided for in the ventilation and cooling system of a commercial or industrial building.

How to Remove Superheated Air Using Industrial Blowers & Fans

When the air temperature in the occupied area of a room or building exceeds 78° to 82°; most individuals begin to feel uncomfortably warm. The first step toward controlling the problem is to provide for the removal of excessively hot air from the building. This superheated air frequently mixes with the air in cooler areas of the building to produce an overall temperature increase. As superheated air is frequently localized around heat-producing machinery, it should be exhausted from the building near its source. This will prevent some undesirable air temperature increase in other areas. As a rule, outside air temperatures are considerably cooler than those inside a building. As superheated air is exhausted, provision should be made to replace it with fresh, cooler, outside air. Exhaust air in many areas of a building may have a temperature of 125° to 150°. This is usually the case where heat-producing machinery is in use. Similar air temperatures frequently occur near the roof or ceiling where rising warm air is trapped and further heated by the sun load on the roof. When this high temperature air is replaced by outside air, a substantial improvement in the average air temperature of the building results. Even where outside air temperature may be in the 80s or 90s, invariably it is 15° to 20° cooler than the air it replaces. This is a very important improvement to the individuals affected.

Industrial Blower Fan “Breeze Conditioning”

A very effective way to overcome the discomfort of a hot, stuffy room is to create a breeze. Before refrigerated air systems were invented, mechanical fans of every description were used to provide air circulation. The circulation of air over a person’s body immediately causes a cooling effect on the skin. When air is passed over a moist surface, it will evaporate some of the moisture and thus lower the temperature of the surface. This is precisely what occurs when air circulates across the human body.

By creating a gentle breeze throughout a room or area, a great deal of cooling comfort is provided for individuals who must work there. This pattern of air circulation is called “breeze conditioning” by Canada Blower engineers. It is effective even when the air temperature may be 85°’ to 95°. When this air circulation is achieved in combination with the factors mentioned in the paragraphs above, a very effective and practical solution is provided for the problem of personnel discomfort in hot weather.

There is a difference between industrial and commercial grade fans construction. Industrial equipment is specifically designed and built to stand up to the rigors of an industrial application. The differences are concrete and easy to spot…if you know what to look for. Industrial fans and blowers are constructed of heavier duty materials and with higher quality components than their commercial counterparts. When properly applied, industrial equipment can withstand vibration, high and low temperatures, fumes and corrosive gases, materials in the airstream, and many other situations in an industrial environment. The equipment is built to provide longer service life, thus decreasing the need and frequency for replacements. Because industrial fans are expected to last longer, they are designed to be easy to install and maintain.

Industrial Blower Fan Features vs Commercial Blowers Fans

The best way to see the difference between an industrial product and a commercial product is to compare them feature for feature, including product weights. In the below example we’ll look at commercial panel fans versus Canada Blower industrial panel fans. The commercial grade panel fan has sheet metal, riveted blades, and a riveted hub. Canada Blower industrial panel fans have a solid, one-piece cast aluminum airfoil propeller or a cast aluminum adjustable pitch propeller. Lighter fans sometimes have balance weights clipped, bolted, or welded to the back of the fan blades, which can fly off during operation. Canada Blower cast aluminum propellers are precision ground and balanced, and therefore require no balance weights.

Industrial Fan Aerodynamic Design

Another difference between the commercial and industrial fan is in the aerodynamic design. Canada Blower originally developed the air seal venturi to improve performance. With this design, the propeller is larger in diameter than the venturi opening, thus creating an air seal. This design eliminates back flow of air pressure and increases air delivery by 10% or more. The way most other panel fans are designed, the propeller is smaller than the venturi opening. This type of fan is easier to manufacture, but significantly less efficient. The basket fan provides even less value because of the air that is lost around the sides of the fan. A Canada Blower venturi design fan pushes the air velocity from the blades out the front of the fan for increased spread and throw versus a commercial type fan.

Industrial Fans for Shipment

There are also installation differences to consider when purchasing a panel fan. Many commercial fans are shipped in parts. The motor and accessories may be shipped loose and must be assembled to the fan when received. In addition the commercial fan shown on the previous page has no provision for panel mounting or for accessory mounting. This means holes for bolts and mounting hardware must be drilled even before it can be completely assembled or installed. Industrial aeration involves moving air through either a solid or fluid medium bed and is used for various purposes. Depending on specific material being aerated, our fans are utilized for moisture control in applications such as grain bin storage, and also provide oxygen and control moisture/temperature in composting applications. Due to varying environmental conditions, fans used in aeration systems often require special construction such as fiberglass, alloys and specialty coatings. The control and containment of air containing a biological hazard is crucial for maintaining a safe environment. An air handling system designed to move such material must be designed to ensure contaminated air does not escape. This can be accomplished with an induced draft fan that will maintain a negative pressure, so that any leaks in a system draw outside atmosphere in, as opposed to allowing the contaminated air out. Biomass and Incineration are two new methods of generating power that utilize renewable biological fuels and refuse as their main fuel source. The process of converting these fuels into an energy source requires the use of specialized boiler system. Issues such as dust loading and corrosion can become major concerns if your system does not utilize the proper fan for exhausting particulate and gas emissions. That is why selecting the right fan is crucial for optimizing the performance and longevity of your overall system. Large Industrial Fans

In the textile industry, humidity of the air is crucial for air quality and fabric production. The fibrous material manufactured in plants needs to maintain a specific humidity and temperature to be processed effectively. Textile manufacturers use air washers to cool, humidify, dehumidify and clean the air to prevent damage during production. Drum filters are typically used in the nonwoven industry for manufacturing products such as diapers, sanitary napkins, and surgical pads. Drum filters have become the standard in the nonwoven industry and are known for their efficiency and compact designs with relatively large air flows. Twin City Fan is a leading supplier of the main system fans located on the clean side of the process. Buffalo Blower fans are often selected for this particular application because of their ability to cover a wide performance range and various operating conditions. Forming fans play an integral role for forming products in the nonwoven industry, such as diapers. These fans create the negative pressure in the forming chamber, giving the product its shape. We typically provide our model RBW radial bladed fan with a backplate for this application. The RBW is capable of producing high static pressures at medium to low airflows.

Industrial Blower Manufacturer

Air washers balance the required humidity of the plant air by humidifying the air during the dry seasons and dehumidifying the air when conditions are more humid. This is accomplished by using re-circulated heated or chilled water that is sprayed into the air. Buffalo Blower fans are used to draw air through these air washer systems and typically provide adjustable pitch axial fans in the range of 2.5″ to 4″ static pressure. Regardless of the size of your operation and system requirements, Buffalo Blower is capable of manufacturing virtually any size fan or blower to meet your exact specifications. Air strippers are used on drum filters for removing material build up on the filter. The vacuum nozzles on the filter remove the fiber/particulate which are then disposed of or used for reclaiming the material. The fans used in this particular application require higher pressure at a relatively low airflow along with a radial blade design for handling the material. Because of these factors Buffalo Blower model ORB incorporates radial blades with a backplate to prevent long stingy material from collecting around the shaft.

High Temperature Blowers

Flue gas recirculation is a highly effective technique used for lowering Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions from burners. This is particularly crucial, as NOx is a significant pervasive pollutant that produces a negative array of health and environmental by-products. NOx emission levels can be greatly reduced in industrial boilers by reticulating used flue gases back into the system. This process lowers the peak combustion temperature and drops the percentage of oxygen in the combustion air/flue gas mixture, delaying the formation of NOx caused by high flame temperatures. Industrial Pressure Blowers

Forced Draft fans purpose is to provide a positive pressure to a system. This basic concept is used in a wide variety of industries but the term FD Fans is most often found in the boiler industry. Fans for boilers force ambient air into the boiler, typically through a preheater to increase overall boiler efficiency. Inlet or outlet dampers are used to control and maintain the system pressure. Typical fan arrangements are 3SI or 3DI which utilize a wheel center hung on the shaft with integral inlet boxes.
